After tattoo removal
Immediately after treatment:
- Cooling: Immediately after treatment, apply a cool compress to the treated area to reduce swelling and redness. Cool for 10-15 minutes and repeat if necessary.
- Compress: Keep the compress on the treated area until you get home to prevent infection.
In the first few days:
- Cleaning: After about two days, the laser-treated area can be washed again with water (without soap). Pat the skin dry; do not rub it.
- Moisturizer: Apply a thin layer of an antiseptic or healing ointment (e.g., CICAPLAST BAUME B5 + SPF50) to the treated area. Continue using this ointment until the skin has completely healed.
- Avoiding irritation: Avoid tight clothing or friction on the treated area. Allow the skin to breathe as often as possible.
- Avoid exercise: After tattoo removal with a picosecond laser, it is recommended to refrain from physical activity for at least 48 hours. This is to protect the skin and prevent inflammation, as the body needs time to heal after the treatment.
In the first few weeks:
- Sun protection: Protect the treated area from direct sunlight. Use a highly effective sunscreen (SPF 50+) if contact with the sun is unavoidable. This should be maintained for at least 3 months after treatment.
- No heat application: Avoid hot showers, saunas, steam baths, and whirlpools for at least two weeks to prevent irritation.
- Do not scratch or rub: This may cause scabbing. Do not scratch or rub the treated area to avoid scarring. Allow scabs and blisters to heal naturally.
- Avoid cosmetics: Avoid applying makeup, lotions, or other cosmetics to the treated area until the skin has completely healed.
Long-term care:
- Hydration: Keep your skin well hydrated by applying a gentle moisturizer daily.
- Observation: Monitor the treated area for signs of infection such as increased redness, swelling, pus, or persistent pain. Consult your practitioner or a doctor if necessary.
- Follow-up appointments: Stick to the schedule recommended by your practitioner for follow-up appointments to ensure that the tattoo is completely removed and your skin heals optimally.
Contact in case of complications:
If you notice any unusual symptoms such as severe pain, persistent swelling, fever, or pus, contact your practitioner or a doctor immediately.
By following these aftercare instructions, you can ensure that your skin heals optimally and achieves the best possible results.
